Who doesn’t love pizza? Here are 3 reasons why pizza can be good for you:

  1. Pizza helps your body absorb lycopene.
Eating lycopene-packed foods like tomatoes along with foods that also have small amounts of fat will make your body absorb this antioxidant much better.
  2. Pizza is packed with protein.
An average slice of pizza contains about 15 grams of protein.
  3. Pizza helps you eat more veggies.
Load up your slice with as many vegetables as you like. Broccoli, mushrooms, bell peppers, spinach, everything tastes good on a pizza.

Veggie French Bread Pizza

  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (read the ingredients and find a brand with natural ingredients and no sugar)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups vegetables (chopped (try bell peppers, spinach, mushrooms, onions, & broccoli))
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  2. Slice French bread in half lengthwise so you have two long halves. Place the bread on a baking sheet, cut side up
  3. Spread ½ cup of marinara sauce on each half of the French bread
  4. Sprinkle ½ cup of mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce on each half
  5. Spread 1 cup of the chopped vegetables on each half
  6. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on top of the vegetables
  7. Place the pizzas in the oven and bake 10-12 minutes. The pizzas are done when the vegetables are soft and the cheese is just starting to brown.
  8. Remove the pizzas and allow them to cool for 3-5 minutes.
  9. Slice each pizza widthwise into 8 strips.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
